Why a Reunion?

The idea of a reunion was mooted some time ago. Many people have supported this and now at last it is all coming together. We hope that everyone who has had a connection with St George’s, since it started in the mid 1970’s, may get to hear about the reunion and consider coming along. So, pass the word, and ask people to get in touch!

What’s happening?

We plan to have a varied programme of workshops, children’s activities, times of worship, the obligatory ceilidh and, of course, plenty time to chat, meet up with old friends and make some new ones.

Live too far away?

We have tried to give plenty of warning so people can plan ahead. However, we appreciate there are many who will be unable to make the trip. If that includes you, please can you send in something for the reunion: a message, some photos (either then or now), even a short video. You can do this by e-mail or by post. We can’t promise to return anything, but we will send you updates from the weekend. Please do complete the appropriate part of the booking form and send it in.

What to do next?

If you would like to come along, please fill in the booking form and send it in. Full details are on the form. Note that you will need to include a non-refundable deposit. We have tried to keep the costs to a minimum and we do not intend making a profit from the weekend! Some costs have had to be estimated and if we find we have any funds left over we will donate these to St George’s.

Who are we?

In case you are wondering who is organising the reunion, we have a small committee consisting of Gorry & Fiona Fairhurst, George & Cathie McLeod, Kathy Buchan and Anne Brockman. Jane Cox is coordinating the bookings. We are indebted to many others who have promised to help out in different ways. If you would like to help in any way, please tell us on the booking form.

Forward as well as back

Reunions inevitably look back at past experiences. But we believe that this weekend may be an opportunity for some to reflect and look forward. Let’s pray that this may be a time when God can speak to each one of us and renew us with his Spirit.

The Programme

The programme is currently in development but we have tried to give you some indication. If you have any ideas or items you would like to see included then let us know.

Music in Worship

Worship and music has always featured large in the life of St George’s. We trust that this weekend will reflect this and we would encourage you to bring your instruments, your voices and your favourite worship songs, both new and old.

Accommodation

Lendrick Muir can accommodate up to 150 people overnight in a variety of shapes and sizes of rooms. All meals are provided although some help will be needed to clear up. If you do not require accommodation, you are still welcome to come as a day only visitor (including meals and facilities) on Saturday and/or Sunday.

Costs

Costs, which include insurance for the stay at Lendrick Muir, will be £65 per person for the weekend (£55 for children under 14). Day visits (including meals) will be charged at £15 per day.

Lendrick Muir

Situated in the heart of Scotland with the splendid backdrop of the Ochil Hills lies Lendrick Muir, Scripture Union’s new residential activity centre with 150 beds and extensive grounds of over 50 hectares. The newly refurbished Victorian house is a fantastic location for activity weeks and weekends, conferences & training events and the SU staff team assure you of a warm welcome. The extensive grounds are a mixture of wooden and open areas and facilities available to us include a nine hole pitch and putt course, great terrain for orienteering, a ropes assault course as well as the increasingly popular disc golf course whose 18 holes wend their way through the forest and across the playing fields.

Lendrick Muir was built in the 1860’s by the Moubry family. The house still retains many of its original features including the ornate Italian plasterwork and the grand staircase. After use as a school, it was put on the market in 1998. Finance to purchase the property was gifted to Scripture Union and a complete refurbishment has taken place to provide an excellent residential facility, capable of catering to a wide variety of users.

Lendrick Muir is 7 miles from Kinross on the A977. Full details on how to get there will be sent out later, or visit www.lendrickmuir.org.uk for more information.

We need your help…

to spread the word about the Reunion. We don’t have a list of everybody who ever came to St George’s and their addresses. So we need you to get in touch with everybody you know and make sure they know about the Reunion. We can send you extra brochures or if you give us details then we can send them out for you.
